Boardroom Notes and Etc.

The Master Board met at 10:00 AM on April 16th.

Items of interest discussed at the meeting included the nine new well meters that have been ordered and the road work that will be done this summer. The blacktop from Ginger to Caravel and the back gate will be torn up and replaced this summer. Roadwork will inconvenience residents for only 2 – 3 days. Spinnaker and remainder of Ginger lane will be seal coated.

Refinishing of the dance floor will also be done this summer. The entryway will be retiled and the card room tiled. The committee is looking at carpet tiles for the main room.

Of interest was the gate security meeting held on the 19th of April. My comments on this meeting was that not much new material was presented and that more information is needed. It is expected that the cost of virtual security versus the present guards would be a saving for the same amount of security. However many residents wish to add cameras and additional monitors that will increase the cost. When cost breakdowns have been finalized, a proxy with this information will be sent to owners for their approval or disapproval. The Board will then vote as directed by their residents.

The Recreation Dept. enjoyed another busy month starting with a Volunteer Brunch on April 4th. Homemade meatballs and spaghetti was served by the Tennis club for the party on the 11th. The Unfashionable Style Show for the Ladies Luncheon on the 17th produced many surprises and laughs. The “Sock Hop” on the 25th brought out the craziest footwear as they jived to the 50’s and 60’s music. All the usual clubs, ice cream socials and breakfast filled the month to brimming.

I need also to mention the Easter Eggstravaganza which brought forth many families as the children searched for hidden eggs, enjoyed decorating cookies, made picture frames with shells, water games for the older children, had face painting, played games, etc. The Easter Bunny made his appearance aboard a decorated golf cart along with his friends the Chicken and Duck. Children had their pictures taken with them.

Our next big event is the Kentucky Derby on May 5th. Ladies may parade their decorated hats. We have our own C.C. Derby games as well as all eyes will be on the Big Wall Screen for the featured event. Kentucky fried chicken, pecan pie and Bourbon cake are some of the many tasty enjoyments!

Quite a few of our Winter residents will be leaving for the north after the Derby Party. We will miss everyone and hope they will hurry back in the Fall!
