January 2015 Update

posted Jan 15, 2015, 9:03 AM by Jeanne Hopkins

Hello Cinnamon Cove Friends,

Hope this note finds you well and in the swing of the New Year.  Things are as busy as ever in Cinnamon Cove.  Jeanne has us going day and night.  If you can’t find something to do, you’re not looking.  If you aren’t here, you should plan a trip soon…the weather is wonderful.

An important reminder….the Master Board will meet next Monday, January 19 at 10 am.  Some items of interest on the agenda:

·           Discussion on landscaping

·           Discussion on security services

·           Discussion and update on new street and directional signs

·           Discussion on end of year matters

·           Discussion and wrap up of several items from last month’s meeting

·           Discussion on possible WiFi connections for The Cove

·           Final update on shuffleboard and bocce courts
Thanks very much for your response to the note in the last mailing regarding signing up for these update emails.  Seventy-six of you responded…that puts this list at 326.  Now, please talk to your association neighbors, and ask them to forward their email to me.  It would be great to get to 400.

We are looking for volunteers.  There are a couple of chores that need to be done and they will take a few good workers to complete them.  Sally Dill is heading up a crew that will paint many of the electrical junction boxes.  They are faded and in need of sprucing up.  Some general maintenance…cleaning and light painting…is needed at the clubhouse.  Please contact me if you want to help out.

Recently a memorial service was held in the clubhouse for one of our long-time residents, Pete Dilemme.  I mention this because of the many volunteers who came forward to help with this event.  It could never have happened without everyone who jumped in to make it possible.  Of course, this is true for all the events held at The Cove

If you haven’t checked out the new Cinnamon Cove web site, it’s time.  Be sure to go to The Gallery section.  There you will find event pictures for the past few months.  Also, you can look at the calendar, download an event sign-up sheet and just keep up with what’s going on.

You may have heard that WalMart is coming to our area.  Well, it’s true.  The old Winn-Dixie shopping mall on the corner of Summerlin and San Carlos is now under destruction in preparation for the new store.  As more details and dates are made available, I’ll pass them along.

Mary Jane Corning is heading up the new Cinnamon Cove picture directory.  We want as many of you as possible to sign up for that.  Attached is a note from her.  Please do this.  It’s free and takes about 30 minutes of your time.

One of our residents, Flora Madelino, misplaced a small, black change purse last Thursday in either Room A or B.  She would very much appreciate its return.  Please check to see if perhaps you may have accidently picked it up.  Call her at 466-7843.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE…three more items:

·  Many of you are walking at all hours of the day and night.  It is imperative that you walk FACING traffic  As quiet as vehicles are now, it is often difficult to hear them, and walking with traffic and not being aware could spell disaster.

·   The dumpster at the clubhouse is NOT for residents’ use.  Each unit has its own trash container.  Please use your own.

·  Also, each association provides a means for recycling.  Cinnamon Cove is a recycling community.  Don’t put your recycling in the trash or dumpsters.  It takes no extra effort to recycle rather than dump.

If you, as an owner, are leasing or renting your unit anytime during the season, it is your responsibility to inform your guests of these rules.  Thanks very much for your cooperation.

Hope to see you around The Cove,

Tony Medley
