April Update

Hello Cinnamon Cove Friends,

A good meeting was held on Monday the 20th with a few items discussed.

Condolences go out to Liz Leden, our CAM from Island Management, and her family on the death of her father.  He had been ill for some time and spent his last weeks in a hospice facility.

Volunteers are needed for a cleaning, painting morning on Tuesday, April 28 at 8 am.  We will be cleaning tables, lights and some windows and painting trash can lids and some serving trays.  If you have a couple of hours you would like to give to help spruce up the place, please plan to attend.  Have a good scrub brush/spray bottle/extra rags?  Bring them.

            Some items of interest:

·           Association presidents, along with a couple of irrigation companies, met to discuss and come to agreement as to what to do about ground water consumption.  It’s a long, complicated formula and explanation regarding this.  All parties agreed to limit ground water usage so CC can come into compliance with what Lee County mandates.  If you want further explanation, please contact your association president.

·           The back entry gate has been damaged three times this winter.  In two instances, the parties responsible have paid for the damage. The guilty party in the first incident still has not been found, but we’re still looking.

·           If you notice any irregularities at any of the pools, please call Liz at Island Management at 454-3525 ext. 113.  And speaking of pools, no one has the right to adjust temperature on the heaters or to even touch the heaters.  If you see someone doing this, please ask them to stop.  The secure cover on the heater at Caravel Pool near Building 12 has been broken by someone who wanted to adjust the temp.

·           Caravel Circle from Building 3/Spinnaker Lane to Building 12/Caravel Circle will be seal coated beginning May 22.  This is in keeping with the past repaving project that took place last Spring.  This is the only road that will be sealed this year.  After next season, the roads will begin to get another coat of sealer.  You will be updated on that.

·           Hurricane Preparedness….John Baretela and Gene Melander are the go-to hurricane guys in The Cove.  They know the ins and outs of what needs to be done before, during and after such an event.  They ask that you remember…the clubhouse is not a hurricane shelter.  Here is a link to Lee County Emergency Management Hurricane Preparation Guide.  It has everything you would ever need in case of a storm.  Just hold down the Ctrl button and click on the link….http://www.leegov.com/Pages/hurricane.aspx

The shuffleboard community was in full swing this season.  Men’s and women’s leagues were very well attended.  A Tuesday night mixed doubles league was a great success as reported by Dick Schoneker, “We were very happy to have so many dedicated players.  We had some very cold nights in which we played, but they came with their gloves and ear muffs ready to play. We only had one week where it rained in early afternoon and the court were too wet to play.”  Attached to this email is a final league standing list.

Jeanne Hopkins, our Recreation Director, in her report at the meeting, mentioned the many and varied activities we shared this past season.  It was quite an extensive list.  What topped all of the activities was the fact that many, many of us participated in those and came together as a community.  What a great thing we have going here in Cinnamon Cove.  Spread the word.

Have a great summer,

Tony Medley
