This is a list of beaches recommended by our residents. WHILE PARKING COSTS ARE SHOWN, THE AMOUNT COULD CHANGE. PLEASE READ THE SIGNS AT THE BEACH FOR ACTUAL PARKING RATES. LYNN HALL PARK - Fort Myers Beach. Out the front gate, right turn on San Carlos and straight to Fort Myers Beach. Right turn just after going over the Matanzas Pass Bridge and parking will be on your left, $0.75 per hour. This is the sandiest beach in the area. Great area to see sunsets. Close to facilities, eating and shopping. BOWDITCH POINT - Fort Myers Beach. At north end of the main island about one mile north of Lynn Hall Park. Limited general and handicapped parking. Best to take trolley or walk on beach from Lynn Hall. Has facilities and snack machines. Charges for parking. Good beach for relaxing. CAUSEWAY ROAD - Enroute to Sanibel, after paying $6.00 toll, you cross over three bridges and two man made islands to get to Sanibel. There are beaches with parking and facilities on these islands. Good location for watching birds, fisherman and water sports. Picnic tables for eating what you bring with you. While there is a parking fee for Sanibel beaches, there is no parking fee at these islands. Please note that live shelling is illegal on all Sanibel Beaches since the shells that used to be plentiful at these world famous beaches are getting fewer each year. LIGHT HOUSE BEACH - On Sanibel, turn left onto Periwinkle Way at Four-Way Stop and go to end of island. Parking $2.00 per hour and may be crowded on weekends. Weekdays should be OK. Great beach for shelling, as are all Sanibel Beaches. Be sure to have slippers or shoes. Good view of Fort Myers Beach. Facilities at Light House, but no snack machines. BOWMAN’S BEACH
- Sanibel. A long ride and walk, but well worth it when you get
there. Turn right on Periwinkle to Sanibel - Captiva Road. Go on to
about the 5 mile marker and turn left at the Bowman’s Beach Sign,
then about one mile to parking area. $2.00 hourly parking. About 1/2
mile walk on path and boardwalk across wetlands to the beach. Beach
is both sandy and shells. Good facilities are on path to beach. |
